Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, is also known by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. This was when she was first recognized. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut music on the internet in 2012. She dropped the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. Her uploads continued music online in 2014, including her self-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album in the track "Sweat it out" 21st July. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew back then, wanted to have her do some Rihanna in reference to Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II her appearance was made on the song Backseat along with Cozz. On October 21 2016 the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer to J. Cole on his song Change in the year 2017 and did a performance on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas' Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream of the album hit stores on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a a music video. The 9th of November saw her release two other singles, 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then on November 13 two new singles called The No One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby in the 16th of November, and made the track available as a solo single for the album she released her debut. The music video debuted on February 20, 2019 to accompany the track. Within a week, it had over 3,000,000 views. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
